The office building - which has been recognized with landmark status - was built on the site of one of the 19th Century’s most elegant hotels in 1896 and stood in the heart of New York’s wealthiest neighborhoods. The building was designed by renowned architect Bruce Price who is recognized worldwide for his design of the Chateau Frontenac in Quebec and Tuxedo Park in New York. The Beaux Arts style building is a striking combination of stone, brick, terra cotta, iron and copper with extensive detailing inside and out. The lobby is adorned by one of the building's original treasures — a lobby mural painted by the famous French decorating firm of Arthur Brounet, fully restored to its original glory. |
